Joining the Society

Information on membership

Thank you for visiting our web site. We hope the enclosed will answer most of your questions.

The Kune Kune is still fairly rare in this country and at the moment prices appear to range from £150 to £250 or more. The price can be governed as much by geography as quality. Neutered boars, which make excellent pets, start at about £150,

Enjoying a napWe strongly advise that you don't purchase a pig from a breeder who is reluctant to register the pig with the society. There are no registered breeders, it is the pigs themselves which must be registered and it is the BREEDERS responsibility to register the pig before selling. Registration only costs £8 to register a breeding pig and £3.50 to register a castrated boar. FUll BOARS SHOULD NOT BE OFFERED FOR SALE AS PETS, as their tusks can grow quite long.

Included in the web site is an up to date list of recent LITTER NOTIFICATIONS and STOCK FOR SALE and we encourage you to ring around to see what is available, and at what price.

Before owning a pig you must have a holding number from DEFRA.

Even if you do not find a suitable pig now, you are still invited to join the Society, follow the link at the bottom of the page.

If you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Message from our Registrar

Welcome to the growing number of Kune Kune pig enthusiasts. If you have not done so already, I would like to offer you the opportunity to join the British Kune Kune Pig Society. As a member, you will receive the Society's newsletter four times a year. This will keep you informed about breeding, new members, tips and hints for successful Kune Kune pig keeping, show reports and members' experiences. All members are invited to contribute to the newsletter. Society members meet once a year at the AGM, which is usually quite informal and very enjoyable.

If you are planning to breed Kune Kune pigs, it is advisable to join the Society, as only BKKPS members can register pedigree Kune Kune pigs. Membership also entitles you to a place on our stock list, which is sent to anybody enquiring about Kune Kune pigs. Any potential breeders are asked to register a breeding prefix when joining the Society.

If you wish to join the BKKPS, please fill in the form and return it to the address at the top of the form, together with a cheque for £12.00 made payable to THE BRITISH KUNE KUNE PIG SOCIETY. Alternatively, membership is available at £18 for two or more persons living at the same address. Junior (under 16) membership is £5.
